In recent days, a 60-year-old woman, identified as Luz Stella Alzate, revealed to Noticias Caracol the scam she suffered at a beauty clinic in Colombia after seeking treatment to eliminate acne scars.
According to the woman, her painful process began more than two decades ago when, determined to improve the appearance of her face, she sought out a beauty alternative at a seemingly specialized place.

According to the victim, the medical facility assured her that she was given a vitamin C injection to make the "holes" in some areas of her face disappear.
Although the procedure initially seemed successful, after a while her face began to swell, causing severe pain and making vision increasingly difficult.
“In 2009, when I returned from a trip abroad, my left eye began to swell. The swelling eventually covered my eyes. I suffered many disabilities,” Luz Stella said in an interview.
The strange symptoms raised the alarm and the woman searched for answers, and that's how she learned she had biopolymers on her face , a synthetic or natural substance that is used illegally in cosmetic procedures.

After more than 20 years of living with the physical and emotional consequences of her condition, the victim describes her struggle with sadness, especially because, she says, the treatment completely destroyed her face.
She also noted that since learning the details of her situation, she has had to fight a battle against the health care providers she has sought repeatedly for help, but from whom she has only received terrible care.

The woman also explained that although some doctors prescribed other substances to counteract her symptoms, these triggered side effects that caused progressive damage.
In light of this, Luz Stella told Noticias Caracol that people like her, who have biopolymers in their bodies, often don't find a suitable alternative to treat the effects of misuse of this synthetic or natural material.
